Congratulations to a Life Member

The Honorable James E Abell

FlatsWorthy is a diverse group of anglers, and our members are promoting our guiding principles of respect everywhere they go. We are excited to congratulate Life Member James E Abell on his appointment to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission.

Governor Greg Abbot appointed Abell, along with 2 other, to serve a 6-year terms. The commission manages and conserves the natural and cultural resources of Texas and provides hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

Today is the perfect time to Join FlatsWorthy. You will join a group of anglers who are concerned about the shallow bays and flats we all enjoy.

  1. Fred Keeler says:

Charlie Williams, a great fisherman, passed on Sunday, 18 August 2019 at the age of 92. Charlie fished exclusively for “Redfish”, in Redfish Bay, from the 361 causeway north. He had a small skiff with a 25hp at Palm Harbor and had to physically helped into and out of his boat. He fished almost every day of the week except Sunday. He fished regardless of the weather, “fish don’t care if its raining or windy” was one of his favorite sayings. He was a steward of the bays. There will be a PVC pole will be placed in Estes Flats as a memorial to his memory.

I am passing this along to y ‘all because Charlie would have been proud to belong to Flats Worthy. I am sure there are members that know this fine man.
